For this industrial warehouse project we used high output 200W LED luminaires complete with integral high-level sensors and 120 degree reflectors. In the past, 400W metal halide style luminaires would have typically been installed, however with the vast progress made in LED technology over the last five years it can no longer be ignored – LED is the way forward! It’s been tried and tested and far out performs the old fluorescent T5, T8 and T12 lamps and discharge control gears.
Company owners can easily save 50% on their energy bills and in some cases up to 80% (depending on existing fittings, hours of use and sensors). By switching to LED, the end user can achieve impressive energy savings whilst attaining or even increasing the lux levels and still make savings on the existing running costs.
On this industrial warehouse project, the end client was extremely happy with the results; the new, bright LEDs provide a far more comfortable and safe working environment with no dark areas or shadows and are far superior to the depressing orange glow of the old SON discharge lights.
Emergency coverage was comfortably achieved using high output stand-alone emergency bulkheads making them fully compliant with BS5266. All the fire exits are now illuminated internally and externally for an illuminated safe exit from the building.
How safe is your warehouse to work in? Is it compliant with current BS5266 regulations? Remember, it’s the employer’s responsibility to provide a safe, illuminated exit from the building and to stay within the requirements of the law.
